Umedia is a Belgian studio specialized in the production of international film projects Its activities include production, co production, financing and visual effects ( The studio is ideally located in the popular Louise Châtelain district of Brussels)

To reinforce our team, Umedia is looking for a VFX Supervisor to join our studio in Brussels.

Your tasks & responsibilities

  • You define and lead the production of visual effects for live action projects (films/series) with a focus on quality
  • You evaluate with the VFX Producers which parts of a project will require VFX
  • You supervise the vfx shooting on set and make sure the shots are filmed correctly to allow efficient editing
  • You master a complete VFX pipeline and respect production deadlines
  • You supervise and ensure a consistent and efficient overall workflow
  • You work closely with all 2D & CGI departments
  • You work with R&D department to implement and develop toolsets and processes
  • You work with the Production team to advice and discuss the feasibility of the VFX work, including the budget
  • You lead, motivate and inspire your team in order to strive for excellence
  • You support your team and identify their strengths and weaknessess and provide constructive feedback in order to enhance careers development
  • You manage priorities and identify the right order in which to complete tasks
  • You communicate with your team and ensure the smooth running of operations

 

Skills required

  • Previous experience in managing a VFX team
  • Passionate about film and VFX
  • Outstanding understanding of the principles of 3D techniques (Animation, FX, Modelling, Texturing, Lighting, Scripting, Shading, Rendering and Rigging)
  • Extensive design, layout, colour and Compositing skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Nuke and Maya
  • Proven knowledge of Mari, Arnold, Houdini and scripting
  • You are a team leader, open-minded, humble, respectful and enjoy the complexity of human relationships
  • You have strong communication and business strategy skills
  • You can handle work under pressure and are not afraid of tight deadlines
  • You are fluent in English (French and/or Dutch is a plus)
  • You are ready to work in Brussels (or remote but on Belgian payroll)
