As part of its development in North America, Umedia is launching a Post-production studio in Vancouver, focused on visual effects, animation, color finishing and mastering for feature films and platform TV series. To support this new entity, Umedia is looking for a Finance & Accounting Manager.

YOUR MISSIONS

You are responsible for theset-up, development and execution of day-to-day financial operations. You are a regular partner to the CEO and work in collaboration with the finance teams of the head-office in Brussels. Your main objective will be tobuild the finance department of the new entity.

Your direct responsibilities include:

  • Accounting: day-to-day bookkeeping (AP, AR, financials) according to local GAAP, periodic closing operations, reporting to head-office for consolidation
  • Business control: development and update of financial planning tools according to Group guidelines (budgeting/forecasting), performance follow-up and analysis, internal and external reporting
  • Treasury: overall cash management including payment execution, cash collection, cash forecasting, banking structure optimisation, bank relationship management

YOUR PROFILE

You have a master degree in Finance and Management (or equivalent) and have at least a first relevant professional experience in a similar function.

You are autonomous, rigorous and demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindsetwith ahigh sense of responsibility.

Knowledge of the VFX and North American film industry is an asset.

You master Microsoft Office, particularlyExcel, and have experience with accounting software

YOUR MISSIONS

You will be a key player in the building up of the studio working closely with the leadership of the company on a day-to-day basis. You will lead the recruitment and talent scouting efforts and you will be the initial contact for all visitors and employees at the studio and look after the daily needs of the office. Your direct responsibilities include:

  • You support the CEO on the recruitment process (reception of applications, scheduling of interviews)
  • You’re responsible for the onboarding and departure process.
  • You ensure the organisation and coordination of HR and internal events, meetings, etc.
  • You’re in charge of the reception desk: you meet and greet all visitors, create a welcoming and warm environment, determine their needs and direct them to the appropriate employee or location.
  • You’re responsible of purchasing general furniture for the office and you manage their stock. (Stationery, office supplies, refreshments, snacks, etc.)
  • You help coordinate the training sessions for the team.
  • You provide administrative support to the team when needed.

  • Strategic sales planning with the senior team
  • Leads sourcing & contact in Los Angeles (frequent trips to L.A. will be required)

For our upcoming projects, Umedia VFX is looking for an experienced FX Artist (M/F).

YOUR MISSION


•You have an advanced working knowledge of Houdini and Maya and experience in creating realistic rendered particle effects for feature films. (smoke, explosions, graphic effects,…)

•Build efficient particle systems that work within technical constraints.

•You propose artistic and technical solutions for the project and have good problem-solving skills.

•You work closely with the VFX Supervisor to ensure the good outcome of the project

REQUIREMENTS

Umedia VFXis a full service of visual effects for films with two twin-companies – one based in the epicenter of the post-production in London, the other on the Avenue Louise in Brussels – fully equipped to deliver high-end effects. We produced visual effects for over 15 years for feature films. TYPE OF CONTRACT: Freelance – LOCATION : Brussels

Lead Compositors are responsible for seamlessly integrating the elements and layers of a shot, including live-action and CG elements.

Lead Compositors will work closely with Visual Effects Supervisor, VFX Producers to composite the numerous elements that complete a visual effects shot.

  • Seamless integration of live action, miniature and CGI layers in real live shots.
  • 3D tracking, matte extraction, layering of elements and color grading
  • Blue/green screen extractions
  • 2.5D DMP Projection
  • Problem-solving of complex compositing issues in a creative way
  • Take part in reviews
  • Be able to manage a team of artists and share his knowledge

Essential skills and Requirements:

Candidates should have 5+ years feature film experience

An excellent working knowledge of Nuke, Mocha, Photoshop

Knowledge of Python, maya, 3d tracking software, after effect will be a plus.

Good understanding of the film pipeline

Critical eye for detail

Strong knowledge of composition and color

Knowledge and interest in photography and practical lighting is helpful

Traditional artistic and design skills

Be responsible for managing your time

Good communication skills

Positions are available for mid and senior artists, although we’ll be happy to hear from skilled juniors as well.

What you’ll do:

  • Compositing of live-action and CG elements to create technically perfect and visually stunning final shots.
  • Take directions from the lead artists and supervisors
  • Find creative ways to solve complex compositing issues.
  • Help / brief junior artists
  • Work closely with the production coordinators to meet the deadlines.

You are well versed in Nuke (background in Shake is considered a plus),

You have at least 3 years of experience,

You have a very good understanding of color and light and how they work in a digital way,

You have some knowledge of Maya (or other 3D packages),
